TOC for education Thinking Skills for Children

Teachers rarely have enough time to teach thinking skills as a separate subject - despite the fact that research indicates that these skills do raise overall attainment. Teachers are also faced with increasing levels of behaviour problems.

The TOC program solves these two topical issues:

1. Because the thinking tools are introduced within a story, the program can be used in literacy hour or during regular periods devoted to teach reading. If used in this way, The TOC program simultaneously helps develop reading, comprehension and thinking skills - significant added value.

2. The extensive use in over 50,000 classrooms shows that behaviour improves as children acquire ways to cope with situations and conflicts in a more thoughtful way.

The interactive program is highly adaptable. It can be read by pupils themselves with or without the pre-recorded narration or it can be led by the teacher.

Additionally, the program includes training materials for teachers. Using an interactive format, teachers will learn:

How to use TOC tools to increase student achievement through targeted standards and benchmarks.

How to teach existing curriculum through the TOC tools, thereby teaching academic content and thinking skills at the same time.

How to use the program to manage behaviour.
